Hold em Poker Sit and Go Report: Elephants and Monkeys are Dangerous in Texas Holdem Poker Competitions
by Isiah on December 6th, 2010
You can find several very good tools to use when wagering on the web sit down and go tournaments to use in profiling your competitors. Texas Holdem Indicator and Poker Prophecy come to mind as top rated software that work across the board on all sites. Understanding your opponent and his wagering style generally is the difference between creating the money, or not. As a sit down and go expert, doing the money regularly can be a full time endeavor to become certain, made even harder by 2 types of players I call Elephants and Monkeys.
Your application can help you identify these players, so too can you notate their tendencies when you play on Full Tilt applying their color coding system. I code Elephants in GREEN, which means they are really loose gamblers – loose/passive to get a lot more accurate. They rarely raise, but they rarely fold too. I don’t usually attempt to take any gamblers off their hand early, specifically true, if I do not even have them profiled. Tip: this is yet a different reason to sit and watch in the earlier rounds! An elephant is friendly and wants to be in quite a few arms with friends. He will limp from any position, and typically plays any two suited cards, and ace-anything. The bad thing about those fingers, other than losing cash is that they win once in awhile too, generally to substantially stronger starting fingers that create big pots for the elephant, permitting him to hang around and be pleasant longer than expected. You cannot bluff an elephant. They cannot read well, and don’t respond to aggression, so your bluffs are pretty much useless against them, your weapon is persistence and building a pot on the appropriate time.
Monkeys are really considerably the same profile as elephants except they’re even worse in that they understand the game even less. At least elephants know what a winning hand is, where monkeys may well have to become shown who had the succeeding hand, what the superior flush was, or even that a flush beats a straight. They are not necessarily new to the game, just untrainable. In reality, they may be sub-human poker players. You may possibly be able to place an elephant on a flush draw, excellent luck attempting to put a monkey on a hand. Once more, setting these gamblers up with your value hands is key, though avoiding aggression – you’ll require the very best palm on the river so should you can’t get there reasonably affordable – save your chips for one more confrontation. I use the PURPLE colour essential to understand I have played this monkey before.
Hold em Indicator is a poker calculator I use in my sit and go games, and it helps in identifying these players because it also gathers data on your competitors when you will be playing. I discover that aspect of it very handy, and have used it to stay away from certain gamblers, whilst producing moves on others. I have a video presentation of this system in my free of cost video series and that you are welcome to it. In the meantime, attempt and spot the elephant at your sit and go table prior to you obtain engaged in a hand.
