Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your home computer, through a net account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the best assemblage of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the enthusiast has selected which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to select the most money-making game each and every instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
