Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through an Internet connection. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with competing players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to pick the most money-making machine every time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
